Description

The Residency in Pediatric Dentistry at the ECU School of Dental Medicine is a 24 month, certificate program that is designed to provide contemporary postdoctoral education in the field of pediatric dentistry. It includes didactic and clinical training in all areas of pediatric dentistry with emphasis on patient management, under served populations, interceptive orthodontics and special patient populations. Upon successful completion of the program, the resident is awarded a Certificate in Pediatric Dentistry and meets eligibility for certification by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.

Curriculum

The Residency in Pediatric Dentistry offers a curriculum that includes didactic and clinical training in all aspects of pediatric dentistry to provide a broad base of knowledge of the specialty. In addition to seminar type didactics and outpatient clinical experiences, the resident also completes rotations in pediatric medicine and anesthesiology. A research project and teaching responsibilities are also required.
