Certificate Program: This is a 24-month program beginning July 1 of each year. Five new positions are available each year. The Certificate in Pediatric Dentistry is awarded upon successful completion of the program.

Description
Nicklaus Children's Hospital is a busy, tertiary care teaching and community-based hospital that emphasizes quality patient care, education and research. Nicklaus Children’s has become a world leader in medical education and is the largest free-standing pediatric teaching hospital in the Southeastern United States.
Nicklaus Children’s Hospital Doral Center, Pediatric Dentistry services are designed to meet the unique needs of healthy infants, children and adolescents and to address the special needs of patients whose medical and dental problems are more complex. Our comprehensive dental services include:
- Preventive dental services
- Dental health education
- Restorative dentistry
- Orthodontics
- Oral and maxillofacial surgery
- Craniofacial Clinic
Outpatient sedation, general anesthesia, operating room dentistry. This program offers a balanced curriculum of clinical and didactic material with the overall goal being to provide a broad base of knowledge in the specialty of pediatric dentistry. The educational philosophy is centered on case-based learning and is designed to train clinicians for private practice. Hospital rotations of general anesthesia, pediatric emergency room and pediatric medicine are also part of the curriculum. In addition, a research project and teaching responsibilities are required components of the program.
Upon successful completion of all requirements, the student is awarded a Certificate in Pediatric Dentistry and meets the advanced education eligibility requirements of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.
Curriculum
Program Stipend and Tuition
There is no tuition. All residents must have a digital camera with intraoral capabilities. A stipend is available for the residents. For the fiscal years years 2018-2019 stipends are as follow:
First Year: $59,716.80
Second Year: $62,462.40

Admission Requirements
Applicants must fulfill the following requirements to be considered for admission:
- Must have a DMD or DDS degree,or its equivalent from an ADA recognized School of Dentistry
- Completed program application with two recent 2X2 photographs and application fee of $50.
- Dental school GPA of 3.0 or higher
- US Citizens from foreign dental schools will be considered.
