Description
The UL Pediatric Dental Residency Program has a strong clinical foundation. Residents see patients with a wide variety of special healthcare needs and medical conditions. We work in Out Patient Surgery in the only pediatric hospital in the state. This is where the residents do rotations as well. There is a research component within the UL research infrastructure. Our residents graduate as very capable, competent pediatric dentists.
Curriculum
All of the residents study:
Microbiology
Immunology
Pharmacology
Anatomy
Biostatistics
Oral Medicine and Diagnosis
Research Methods
Pathology
Genetics
Rotations:
5 weeks in Anesthesia at Norton Children's Hospital
2 weeks in the Sedation Clinic at Norton Children's
2 weeks in the ED at Norton Children's Hospital
Program Stipend and Tuition
Stipend - $40,000 per year
No tuition, there is a Program Fee of $7,000
Benefits include medical insurance, free parking, free meals
Facilities
We are in the UL School of Dentistry 14 chair clinic and residents rotate to a suburban clinic with 7 chairs
Admission Requirements
- Applicants for the 3 GME resident positions:
- Must have dental degree from CODA approved school
- Must be US citizen or permanent resident
- Have taken National Board
- Applicant for our 1 International resident position must:
- Have a dental degree
- Have taken National Board
Program Strengths
Strong clinical program with OR time 4 days per week.
