Description

The Department of Dental Medicine at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center is pleased to announce that The Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) has granted initial accreditation for the Pediatric Dentistry residency program.

The Pediatric Dentistry residency program at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center is 24 months in duration and will accept two residents each year.

The Pediatric Dentistry residency program is designed to prepare pediatric dentists that provide pediatric oral healthcare, assume leadership roles and serve the community.

The residency program will provide a well-rounded exposure to the field of pediatric dentistry:

  • Provide advanced didactic instruction in pediatric dentistry: Evidence-based didactic instruction in biomedical sciences and clinical sciences
  • Provide full range of clinical opportunities in pediatric dentistry: Evidence-based modalities for comprehensive pediatric oral healthcare practice
  • Provide an insight to the process of evidence-based pediatric dentistry: Completion of a research project as a scholarly activity and evidence-based learning
  • Provide pediatric dental service: Provide oral health education as part of community dentistry and public health

Additionally, the program will include rotations in Anesthesiology, Emergency Medicine (focused on Pediatrics) and Pediatric Medicine.

Curriculum

The didactic and clinical curriculum will include all courses recommended by CODA.


These are: Biomedical Sciences, Behavior Guidance, Growth and Development, Oral Facial Injury and Emergency Care, Oral Diagnosis, Oral Pathology, and Oral Medicine, Prevention and Health Promotion, Comprehensive Dental Care, Management of a Contemporary Dental Practice, Patients with Special Health Care Needs, Hospital Dentistry, Pulp Therapy, Pediatric Medicine and Advocacy.

Program Stipend and Tuition

First Year Stipend is $62,000. Second Year Stipend is $68,000. Program benefits inlcudes 4 weeks of paid vacation and 9 holidays.
